The Walt Disney Company Iberia (TWDCI) has signed an agreement to become a strategic shareholder of NET TV by acquiring 20% of the shares. NET TV is a Company controlled by Vocento and is the holder of one of the six DTT licenses awarded by the Government in 2000. The acquisition has been already notified to the regulator.

Disney Channel today announced that Phineas and Ferb, the channel’s latest comedy animation series, has become the most successful animation launch for Disney Channel ever in the UK. The show topped the ratings charts and won the number one position in its time slot amongst boys aged between 6 to 12 years old.

Leading preschool channel Playhouse Disney today announced its most successful quarter to date in the UK with a significant 33% year on year growth* between October and December 2007. This positive trend has continued into 2008 with Playhouse Disney’s January reach up 43% year on year and the channel achieving its best ever weekly share of 1.1%** in the UK.

Playhouse Disney today announced it is joining forces with the Pre-school Learning Alliance on the biggest ever trial of educational materials to teach preschoolers about the environment through play. The trial will see 7,300 nurseries receive a free pack as part of Playhouse Disney’s Playing for the Planet campaign launched earlier last year.
